growing together

to serve 3,500 more campers

CAMP TWIN LAKES IS BUILDING A NEW CAMPUS TO SERVE 3,500 MORE CAMPERS,

AND WE NEED YOUR HELP

For nearly 30 years, Camp Twin Lakes has made a tremendous impact on the lives of children and families living with serious illnesses, disabilities, and life challenges. We currently serve 10,000 campers annually during year-round programs, but we are at capacity, and there are hundreds of children waiting to receive the benefits of Camp.

We are thrilled to share that we are building a third campus to provide life-changing camp experiences for 3,500 more campers each year. Thanks to the commitment and generosity of our community, we have raised $24M and construction is underway. Now we need your help in raising the final $200,000 to complete the build and fill the new campus with adaptive camp equipment, furniture, and medical supplies.

Please join our Camp family in helping us reach the final $200,000 to get our campus ready to serve more extraordinary kids.

At Camp, youth with physical challenges can participate in traditional camp activities using adaptive equipment. Campers receive medical care in our onsite clinic, outfitted with pediatric equipment and pharmacy units. At the end of each day, campers rest in accessible, air-conditioned cabins with adaptive bathrooms.

Camp is committed to financially supporting every camper who attends a weekend or summer program. Through our Camper Scholarship Program, children and families receive the immense benefits of Camp at little to no cost. As we grow to serve more campers, the need for scholarship support grows, too.

learn about our campers

We currently serve a diverse population of children and young adults with serious illnesses, disabilities, and other life challenges ranging from campers living with cancer, craniofacial differences, hemophilia, developmental disabilities, and more, to siblings in foster care, and military families.

This new campus will allow us to serve an additional 3,500 campers each year. We will grow to meet the demand of our existing camp partners and also build new partnerships to serve new populations, such as children and teens with mental health disorders.

Camp plays a critical role in transitioning teens to adulthood, giving teenagers a safe environment in which to learn and practice problem-solving and being independent.

Camp provides a safe environment for children and teens with non-acute mental health disorders to experience the calming, restorative nature of the outdoors while learning skills to improve their health and well-being.

Camp Twin Lakes’ weekend programs for campers and their families are also at capacity as we now serve more campers during the non-summer season than during the summer season.

GYM

The Camp gym is the hub of large group activity throughout the Camp experience. This is where all 240 campers and volunteers will unite for Camp dances, talent shows, group games, family weekend sessions, and rainy-day activities.

DINING HALL

All 240 campers and volunteers will come together three times each day in our dining hall for healthy farm-to-table, family-style meals. This provides our campers the opportunity to learn and practice teamwork and service to others, as well as learn Camp songs and chants and publicly celebrate accomplishments.

PLAYGROUND

Using the natural landscape, our full accessible playground will engage campers’ senses and imaginations as they roll, jump, climb, and swing through our wheelchair carousel, rope tree climber, birds nest and pendulum swings, and embankment slide.

ARTS & CRAFTS BUILDING

Our large Arts & Crafts building will house four individual rooms for traditional and nature-based arts & crafts, ceramics and sculptures work, an indoor teaching kitchen, and a maker space for open creativity. With its large wraparound porch and outdoor ceramics kiln, campers will let their imaginations guide them as they discover new skills and explore potential hobbies.

CAMPER CABINS

Campers cabins are incredibly important to the Camp experience, as they are where our campers bond deeply with one another through storytelling and debriefing at the end of the day. Our new Rutledge campus will have housing to accommodate 240 people per camp session, and our cabins’ unique design will allow us to better serve the diverse populations who attend our different camp programs throughout the year.

CABIN NEIGHBORHOODS

Camper cabins will be grouped into multiple neighborhoods, allowing us to maximize capacity by having different Camp Partners on site at one time. This will let us create focused, intentional, and individualized experiences for each population.

CAMP ENTRANCE

Arriving at Camp is an exciting moment. With views of the dining hall, gym, and Camp offices, our entry area is where friends reunite, parents wave their children into a life-changing week, and campers begin their journeys to confidence and capability.

CAMP LAKES

We are excited to utilize the two beautiful existing lakes at our new Rutledge campsite for beach and waterfront activities like kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, and fishing. These fully accessible activities allow campers to try many outdoor activities for the first time, overcoming internal and external challenges as they discover new skills and interests.

MEDICAL CLINIC

Providing onsite medical care is an essential component of the Camp Twin Lakes experience. This key element will allow medical staff to administer on-site treatments and medications directly to campers and allow campers to engage with their own healthcare plans.

TOWN CENTER

Located just off the dining hall and medical clinic, the Town Center is where the action happens. This open, grassy area is where campers gather throughout the day for planned and impromptu group activities and games that build community and foster teamwork.
